COIN, one of America’s biggest indie pop bands took the stage at a sold out show at The Wiltern on Friday March 1st in Los Angeles, CA. The one opening act, Tessa Violet, was filled with passionate energy and the crowd responded very well to her set. From the start of the countdown, when the guys walked out, to the end of the show, the energy COIN brought was unmatchable. With thousands of screaming passionate fans, an amazing light show, and amazing chemistry between bandmates Chase Lawrence (lead vocals, synthesizers), Ryan Winnen (drums), and Joe Memmel (lead guitar, backing vocals); it was a prime example of how the last show of a tour should be executed. Once the music came on, it was hit after hit after hit. COIN opened with “I Don’t Wanna Dance”, “Simple Romance”, and “Boyfriend”. Going into the show, I had only heard a handful of COIN songs, the more popular ones like “Talk Too Much”, “Run”, and “Malibu 1992” but at the end of the night and into the next weeks they were all I wanted to listen to. COIN has announced a summer tour with Young The Giant and Fitz And The Tantrums. If you have an opportunity to see them live, even if you have only listened to a handful of songs like myself, 10 out of 10 would recommend.
