Concert Review: Masego's Lady Lady Tour

Concertgoers packed tightly into The Studio at Warehouse Live in Houston, TX on Sunday November 4th for a sold out performance by trap house jazz guru, Masego. The intimate show presented a noticeable and unwavering exchange of positive energy between the crowd and the musicians. Nigerian-American R&B duo VanJess got the night started performing songs from their debut album, Silk Canvas, including “Addicted,” “Through Enough,” and “Cool Off the Rain.” With a sound reminiscent of 1990s R&B, the duo had the crowd cheering every time they hit a high note. After a brief stage rearrangement, lights dimmed and the Trap House Jazz band took to the stage. Cheers roared as Masego entered the room playing the saxophone. Masego’s energy radiated through the audience as he performed “Wifeable,” “Ooh Nah Nah,” “Black Love,” and “Lady, Lady.”Masego a self-taught saxophonist, pianist, singer, and producer took time to flex his talents on stage but made sure to give each member of his band the chance to show off their skills as well. Crowd favorites of the night included “Tadow,” “Queen Tings,” “I Had a Vision” and “Old Age”as concertgoers belted out the lyrics alongside the Virginia based singer. After an hour long set, Masego and his band exited the stage only to return a few minutes later after unrelenting chants from the crowd for an encore. Masego’s electric performance and unique soulful sound make him an artist to watch.
